In 1946, Archie T. Morrison founded Electroswitch Corp. in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Of the six original employees, two succeeded Archie as President and one became a General Manager. The business was based on the acquisition of the Military Switch Division of the Arkless Switch Corp. of Watertown, Massachusetts.

Early efforts were predominately with the military, mostly Rotary switches meeting the rugged requirements of Navy ships. Internal developments expanded the product lines. In the 1960's a major effort developed a line of motorized Linear action switches for complex fire control and computer-control applications on nuclear submarines and later surface ships.

The 1970's saw the Company adapt the rugged Military switches to heavy-duty industrial and power industry applications. New product development included Lock out Relays and other electrically operated devices for electric utilities. Several lines of Instrument & Control switches were introduced including a modularized version for nuclear power plants. The utility products were tested and Qualified to nuclear requirements just as the military products were qualified to military specifications and the industrial products were qualified and recognized by Underwriter's Laboratories and the Canadian Standards Association.

The 1980's and up to the present time have been in further expanding the Company by adding Power-Tap switches for industrial applications and street lighting photocontrols for utility applications. Manufacturing locations are maintained at the original location in Weymouth, MA as well as Rockland, MA, Raynham, MA, and Raleigh, NC.

On August 1, 2003 the Fisher Pierce Outdoor Lighting Controls was added to the family of ElectroSwitch Corp. Fisher Pierce OLC is the oldest and largest manufacturer of street lighting controls. In 2008 the Fisher Pierce OLC brand was established as FP Outdoor Lighting Controls. The combination of resources of Sunrise Technologies and FPOLC is an organization with more experience and expertise than the rest of the industry combined.

From six employees, the Company has grown to well over 600; from total sales measured in the low thousands in 1946, to $60 million. While this record is impressive, the immediate future holds promise of even greater things to come. Electro Switch Corp. Eagerly faces that future with the same determination and enthusiasm that has brought us to the present.
